Photos: Refugees from Syria get help thanks to MECA

As people in many parts of the world face record-breaking cold weather, refugees from Syria in Lebanon are facing cold temperatures, rain, wind, and even snow. Winter is the worst time of year for people in refugee camps. 
 
But MECA is helping some of the children and families stay warm this winter.

Last fall Sahar Abbasi, Deputy Director of the Madaa Silwan Creative Center, traveled to the U.S. for the first time for a speaking tour, organized by MECA. She visited eight cities, along with the photo exhibit “Room #4.” Madaa is MECA’s partner in the Silwan area of East Jerusalem.

The actions of the new Palestinian generation living under Israeli occupation are shocking the world. Naturally, the media focuses on the random knife attacks against Israeli settlers.  But there have also been dozens of demonstrations and hundreds of acts of civil disobedience by Palestinians in the last several months.

Clean water is a right from Gaza to Michigan

As most of you know, water issues have been a special concern of mine and the Middle East Children’s Alliance for a number of years.  Through our Maia Project we have built and installed water purification systems at schools throughout Gaza so thousands of children—and their families—can have clean water to drink.

Drinking clean water; I can’t imagine anything more basic.

MECA artist Jos Sances Honored by Center for the Study of Political Graphics

A Call to Affirm the Human Rights of ALL Migrants
