Raise Money

The Middle East Children’s Alliance relies on the energy and commitment of individuals to fund our programs. Individuals and community groups anywhere in the world can support MECA’s work by contributing and organizing others to give.

Host a Fundraiser for MECA!

This year marks 30 years of MECA’s work caring for the children of Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria. The Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) achieved this milestone because people like you donated and raised funds for our work.

As part our 30th Anniversary Fundraising campaign, our goal is to raise $120,000 from fundraisers held by individuals or groups.

Asking people to make contributions to MECA in honor of your birthday or other celebration works great. But you can do a fundraiser for any occasion or no special occasion.

When Omar and Nayema Sisemore were thirteen and eleven they decided to raise funds for MECA’s Maia Project to bring clean water to Palestinian children. They started with a lemonade stand and once relatives and family friends chipped in, they raised nearly $4,000—enough to fund a water purification unit for a kindergarten in Gaza.

Top fundraising ideas:

  • Set up a fundraiser on MECA’s Facebook page
  • Host a houseparty
  • Put on a concert with a local musician
  • Almost anything you like to do can be effective in raising funds—a cooking class, a poker game, a bike race, an afternoon tea, or a film screening and discussion.

Take Action

The lives of Palestinian children are either invisible or distorted in the mainstream media. That’s why it’s so important that you stay informed and share what you learn with your community. The News & Opinions section and blog on this website, along with MECA’s email newsletters and public events can provide you with news and insight you’d have a hard time finding on your own. By staying informed, educating others and then taking action, you can help us further our mission.
