During these terrifying and difficult times, MECA’s team in Gaza is still working
After a temporary ceasefire, Israel is dropping bombs on hungry, sick, and traumatized children in Gaza.
You’re reading this on the fifth day of Israel’s renewed bombings and the 20th day of Israel’s complete blockade of all aid going into Gaza. Children and families in Gaza are once again desperate for the most basic things like food, water, medicine, and shelter.
“Here in Gaza, the pain, the blood, the hunger, and the destruction never cease. And now, we are entering an even more difficult phase.”
-MECA’s Wafaa El-Derawi
Incredibly, MECA’s team of staff and community partners have been getting food and water to tens of thousands of people every single day since the genocide. The renewed blockade and bombings don’t stop them. Please make a special donation now so MECA can get to as much as we can to as many people as possible.

As bombs are dropping on homes, tents, and shelters, Israel is still using starvation a weapon, along with the deprivation of water, medicine, and electricity.
Meanwhile, MECA is reaching people that no other organization is able to reach. And we’re stretching whatever food we have or can get inside Gaza. Here’s what we’re doing, thanks to your generous support:
Hot meals every day. We opened a new solar-powered community kitchen in northern Gaza where hundreds of thousands of people returned since January. MECA’s four community kitchens in Gaza are cooking 13,000 hot meals every day. We have been able to buy some meat, chicken, and fresh vegetables grown locally. When that is gone, we will cook bean and rice. And when that is gone, we will do whatever we can.
Water. We are expanding our distribution of safe, clean drinking water in the north and the south. We have 14 trucks delivering 71,326 gallons of clean drinking water alongside 13 solar-powered water purification units located in hospitals, shelters, and kitchens. Our mobile generator project goes around to wells to pump non-drinkable water for cleaning, bathing, and laundry.
Aid. We are continuing to package and distribute the small amounts of aid we still have in our warehouses that we brought in before the blockade. This includes clothing, shoes, and food parcels.
Health. We are still providing nutrition care for children, a basic health clinic, garbage removal by donkey cart, and latrines for tent encampments.
This work seems miraculous when we see what’s happening in the news. But it is not a miracle. It is the unyielding determination and resourcefulness of the people on ground who will do everything they can for their communities and their country.
They draw their strength, in part, from people like you around the world who stand in solidarity and support their tireless work.
With thanks and appreciation,
All of us at MECA
