Health worker in Gaza tries on Personal Protective Equipment

Thank you to the hundreds of supporters who contributed to MECA’s pandemic relief efforts. We wanted to let you know what we’ve done in the past few months.

With your help, MECA staff, our partner organizations, and hundreds of volunteers are delivering life-saving aid throughout Gaza, in refugee camps in Palestine and Lebanon, and remote communities in the West Bank’s Jordan Valley, including:

  • 3,450 hygiene kits (hand sanitizer, alcohol, etc.) and house-cleaning supplies
  • More than 6,000 educational pamphlets about how prevent the spread of the virus.
  • 4,550 food parcels plus seedlings for hundreds of families with space to grow their own vegetables
  • Personal Protective Equipment for a hospital in Gaza
  • A home health team in Gaza to provide medicine and check-ups so people at risk don’t have to go to out

MECA’s partner organizations had to close their projects for children in schools, libraries and community centers. Now, they are organizing art and writing competitions for children at home, offering psychosocial support to families by phone, and finding safe ways to deliver library books to children.

None of this would be possible without the generosity of MECA’s supporters.

Please take a look at the videos and photos below. I hope they give you a sense of the critical work your contributions make possible.

If you’d like to discuss any aspect of MECA’s work, please send us an email and we will be glad to give you a call.

Again, many thanks for your generous support.

Stay well,

Josie Shields-Stromsness
MECA Program Director
