I have recently recovered from COVID-19 and I’m so glad to be back at work. When I first got the positive test I panicked. I am in my 60s and I have asthma, hypertension, and other health problems that put me at risk. For days and nights, I coughed my heart out, struggled with high fevers, and battled insomnia.

Many nights I lay in bed thinking about the poor people in Gaza who live in the streets, in refugee camps, or in overcrowded, dilapidated houses. How could they afford food on a daily basis? How could they socially distance and cope with Gaza’s cold winter and a health system on the brink of collapse?

Vulnerable families in Gaza are living under decades of occupation and brutal Israeli siege. Many suffer from severe side effects from the lockdown – unemployment, hunger and cold.
Please give now and your gift will be doubled.

Even when I felt terrible, I was eager to get back to my work with MECA because I knew how much help and support children and families need.

I know that you share my deep concern about the people of Palestine. So, I ask you to make a special year-end contribution to MECA. I’m pleased to tell you that three generous MECA supporters will match your donation dollar for dollar.

Your support will make it possible for MECA staff, volunteers, and community partners to distribute food parcels and hygiene kits to thousands of families as well as the Warm Winter project which provides warm clothing for children and weather protection for homes.

With your support, MECA can make sure people in Gaza, who are deprived of the most basic things they need, survive this terrible period and continue to struggle for their freedom.

If you or someone you love has had COVID-19, I can empathize with you from my own recent experience. It is a terrible disease. Please, do everything you can to protect yourself, your family and your community.

P.S. Every caregiver and health worker in Gaza is working unbelievably hard despite cuts in pay, shortages of medicine and equipment, and daily electricity shut-offs. Please stand in solidarity with them now by making the most generous contribution you can to MECA. Give now to double your impact. Many, many thanks.
