I’m writing to you from my home in Bethlehem where we are on lockdown once again due to a surge in coronavirus cases. But I do have some very good news to share with you: Generous MECA supporters have offered $75,000 to match your year-end contribution to MECA — now when the need is so great.

Like so many communities around the world, Palestinians are suffering from the economic devastation that accompanies lockdown. People are unemployed, cold, and unable to afford even basic needs. While we are doing our best to stay safe, we are still living every day with the horrors of Israeli occupation: Home demolitions, night-time raids, arrests and detention of children and adults; harassment and violence from illegal settlers.

In the face these very difficult conditions, I’m so proud of the work MECA and our partners are doing. As a MECA supporter, you should be proud too!

Your donation to MECA by December 31 will be DOUBLED by generous supporters
Double my donation

Since the first terrifying days of the pandemic this spring, you have helped MECA do so much:

  • You provided supplies and information to prevent the spread of the virus, along with medicine, mobile heath teams, and protective equipment.
  • You supported farmers and food producers to feed thousands of the most vulnerable families.
  • You made it easier for children to manage during lockdowns as our partners delivered library books to their homes and organized online storytelling, art, music and creative writing activities.
  • And you’re giving 140 determined university students a way to continue their studies.

I know you want to do everything you can to help Palestinians remain steadfast, and hope you will make a donation to MECA today to help us continue this vital work.

Please make the most generous year-end gift you can afford, and another supporter will double it — so it’ll have twice the impact for children and families.

In solidarity,

Josie Shields-Stromsness
MECA Program Director

P.S. I see first-hand the importance of MECA’s work for Palestinian children and their families. We can’t do this work without you. Many thanks.
