Lian during team building activities in MECA’s psychosocial support project
Lian, the stage butterfly, as her coaches and friends call her, succumbed to her injuries. She passed away yesterday after being injured in the latest Israeli attack on Gaza.
Lian, 12, had hoped to adapt to the hard psychological impacts that the successive Israeli attacks had left, so she participated in MECA’s psychosocial support project in the last months of her life. She danced and sang for freedom and justice. She dreamed of flying on stage, performing dances with love and confidence. But Israel ended this dream in the ugliest and the most horrific way.
Lian was hit with a missile while she was heading with her family for a picnic on the sea last weekend. In just an instant, in cold blood and without any humanity, Israel killed Lian and left only grief in the hearts of her family, her friends, and all of us at MECA.
We send our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Lian and all the 49 Palestinians killed last weekend.
To Lian we wish to say goodbye. Your friends, teachers, coaches, and all those working in the Psychosocial Support Project will miss you. We love you so much, Lian.
