We received these beautiful images from Susan Greeene of Break the Silence Mural and Arts Project. Susan and a delegation of US artists accompanied Barbara and I on a visit to Silwan last week. We were treated to a delicious homecooked meal, a briefing of the situation for Palestinian residents of Silwan, a quick tour of the neighborhood, and a music recital by children from Madaa Center!

We were treated to a delicious homecooked meal, a briefing of the situation for Palestinian residents of Silwan, a quick tour of the neighborhood, and a music recital by children from Madaa Center! Susan and the artists from the Estria Foundation and Olympia-Rafah Solidarity Mural Project went back to Silwan and created  collaborative art pieces with children and youth. I hear the spraypainting and graffiti art was a huge hit among the young Palestinians in Silwan. (By the way, these incredible artists are now in Gaza painting murals about water justice at the sites of Maia Project water purification and desalination units – follow them on twitter and facebook

I heart Silwan spraypainted across a white wall.Handala stands proudly in Silwan
