After months of delays, MECA’s shipment just arrived in Gaza this week! The shipment includes antibiotics, vitamins for children and pregnant women, pain medications, surgical supplies, hospital mattresses, and wheelchairs.
All of these items were requested by the Red Crescent Society of the Gaza Strip, which runs three clinics in Gaza, and Ard Al-Insan Child Nutrition Center.
The shipment has been packed and ready to go to Gaza since August but due to the Israeli blockade of Gaza, which is in its 10th year, it is very difficult to get clearance for any items to reach Gaza. The World Health Organization was key in helping get our shipment cleared for entry.
Above is a photo of Wafaa El Derawi MECA’s Gaza Project Assistant with the Red Crescent’s Medical Director receiving and inventorying the shipment over the weekend.
We are thrilled to see the medications are already reaching children and families in Gaza!
