Children in West Bank face deadliest year of past decade

Ramallah, December 23, 2016—Israeli forces have killed 31 Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in 2016. This makes it the deadliest year of the past decade for West Bank children, according to Defense for Children International - Palestine research.

Ten years living under the Israeli blockade, two years after the last horrible war on Gaza—on top of decades of dispossession and occupation—what is normal for us is really a very difficult life.

Ramallah, November 12, 2016—An Israeli settler pepper-sprayed and physically assaulted 10-year-old Adnan Amir while he was taking a short-cut home from school in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan on October 30.

MECA is very pleased to welcome two remarkable young women to our Palestinian staff in Gaza. Last year MECA’s previous Gaza Project Assistant Safaa El Derawi received a prestigious scholarship from an Australian university. Overcoming multiple obstacles to leaving Gaza, Safaa is now working toward a master’s degree in water engineering.
