As children all over the world begin the school year, schoolchildren in Palestine face extraordinary threats, violence, and obstacles to getting an education.

Just last week, Israel destroyed a school near the Palestinian city of Ramallah. Last November, Israeli soldiers destroyed an elementary school in the community of Masafer Yatta during the school day while the children watched.

I know you agree with me that all children deserve an education and all children deserve to be safe at school.

That’s why I’m asking you to make a special back-to-school contribution now, to protect children and their right to learn.
DONATE NOW

Your special contribution to the Middle East Children’s Alliance will provide:

  • Counseling and tutoring support for children who’ve been arrested, suffered from trauma, dropped out of school to work, or have other learning difficulties
  • Three public libraries named for the great Palestinian-American scholar Edward Said, where children can take classes, get job skills, join book clubs, and of course borrow books.
  • Classrooms in large, protected caves in the Palestinian villages of Masafer Yatta where homes and schools have been destroyed multiple times
  • Backpacks filled with books and basic school supplies for thousands of children in Gaza and in the besieged Jordan Valley and Masafer Yatta

As you probably know, Palestinians are very dedicated to education and have one of the highest literacy rates in the world.

Please give now and join the remarkable parents, teachers, social workers, librarians, and coaches who are giving the next generation the strength and knowledge to create a better future for themselves, their families, and their country.

In solidarity,

Zeiad Abbas Shamrouch
Executive Director

P.S. As children in your own life start the new school year, please renew your commitment to giving Palestinian children one of the things that every child needs and deserves—an education. Please make a Back-to School donation to MECA now. Thank you so much.
