Winter is the nightmare everyone here in Gaza dreads. That their tents will flood. That their children will freeze. That the cold might take lives.
At MECA, we are doing everything within our reach to keep our children warm, to protect what little safety and comfort they have left.
Your support today doesn’t just bring warmth; it brings life. It calms the hearts of parents and gives us a sliver of hope… that maybe, just maybe, we can make it through this winter without hearing that another child has died from the cold.
-Wafaa El-Derawi, MECA’s Gaza Director
Palestinian children in Gaza are shivering from the cold right now. Rainwater is flooding tents, and families are losing the few belongings they have. Most homes and buildings have been destroyed in Gaza, leaving more than 1.3 million people trying to survive another winter in tents.
Donate NOW for Winter Aid for Gaza
For more than 10 years, MECA has delivered winter relief to refugee camps in Palestine and Lebanon. Now, more than two years of genocide in Gaza has resulted in nearly all homes destroyed, a lack of fuel, shelter materials, and other necessities due to ongoing Israeli prohibitions. Enormous numbers of children and families are literally out in the cold.
MECA’s staff and partners found stores with winter jackets for 3,000 Palestinian children in northern and southern Gaza. Please make a donation today so we can purchase and distribute more winter aid.
Your gift of warmth will go twice as far
Your support has provided hot meals, clean water and other necessities to displaced families every day for more than 2 years. Now, as the temperatures drop, as wind and rain batter tents, and the Israeli war machine keeps going despite the “ceasefire”, I’m asking you to give children a gift of warmth.
Thank you for your compassion and your solidarity.
Zeiad Abbas Shamrouch
Executive Director
P.S. Last week, MECA distributed new jackets to all the children attending one of the first elementary schools to open after October 2023 in Gaza. With your help, we can reach thousands children with warm clothes, blankets, food, water and more.
