Thirteen-year-old Aysam was harvesting olives with his family on October 11 in the northern West Bank when Israeli soldiers heavily bombarded the area with tear gas.

A month later, Aysam died from breathing complications from the attack.

For generations of Palestinian families, olive harvesting and tree planting were community events, where even the smallest child was given saplings to plant in the ground as the rainy season began.

Now, heavily armed Israeli settlers and soldiers have made it too dangerous for children and their families to spend time in their beloved olive groves. Every month, Palestinian farmers are attacked, and thousands of trees are damaged or destroyed.

Israeli settler militias stalk the farmers, while Israeli soldiers protect the militias—or join the vicious attacks. They have murdered dozens of Palestinians and animals, injured hundreds, and set fire to homes, land, and property. 2025 has been the most violent year on record, with 264 Israeli settler attacks in just the month of October.
