“I learned that the Palestinians are fighting for the land that Israel occupies. I also learned that there are many single stories in the world, and sometimes it’s hard to differentiate what’s the whole story and what’s not.”

We are sharing this comment from a 6th grader in Portland, Oregon, with you because it exemplifies the importance of teaching about Palestine, and the global and critical thinking it can foster.

The contributions of Middle East Children’s Alliance supporters like you made it possible for our Teach Palestine Project to provide books, curriculum, and one-on-one coaching to this student’s teacher. For almost 15 years, we have been sharing curriculum and training for teachers who want to bring Palestine into their classrooms.

Teachers who bring Palestine and other social justice issues into the classroom are under serious attack. Please make a contribution now to reach more educators and their students.

DONATE NOW

There are escalating and targeted attacks against educators who support including Palestine in their K-12 classrooms or curricular frameworks. The most recent attacks are against Ethnic Studies programs that recognize and include the Palestinian struggle alongside those of other people of color.

In this context, the thoughtfully developed resources and professional approach of the Teach Palestine Project are especially important.

Your support of the Teach Palestine Project will enable us to fight back against the silencing of educators while providing resources for teachers throughout the country who are inspired to make connections between Palestine and the issues facing their students and communities. We are asking you now to make a contribution to Teach Palestine to:

  • Take Ethnic Studies teachers and teacher leaders to Palestine next summer.
  • Bring teachers to an all-day Palestine Intensive Workshop in January 2024. We’ll share in-depth history and ideas for using film, music, poetry and art to make Palestine come alive for children and youth.
  • Provide books and other resources, one-on-one coaching and staff development to teachers so they can bring Palestine into their classrooms
  • Defend Palestine curriculum and the educators who are developing and teaching it.

Your gift of $100 will help fund our January workshop.

$300 will provide a class set of Determined to Stay: Palestinian Youth Fight for Their Village, along with one-on-one coaching and a host of resources

If you’re able to make a very generous contribution of $1200 you will send a low-income educator to Palestine with the 2024 Teach Palestine delegation.

Please know that whatever amount you’re able to give–every month or just one time–will keep the Teach Palestine Project alive and growing.

Your support now will be giving this generation of US students the chance to learn about Palestine, how it connects to their own lives and to a greater understanding of people and their struggles around the world.

P.S. As the new school year gets underway,  the requests for Teach Palestine resources increase.  Your support is crucial.  Please make the most generous gift you can afford.  Thank you.
