Israeli shelling killed a 10-year-old boy at a mosque in northern Gaza Friday, medics said, making it the first death since fighting renewed following the expiration of a three-day truce.
Health ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qudra said the boy, Ibrahim al-Dawawisa, was killed at the Nour al-Mohammedi mosque as Israel's occupation army bombed a number of sites in Gaza Friday morning and Palestinians renewed rocket fire from the besieged strip.
Palestinian news agency Ma'an said Israeli war jets and navy ships launched attacks on Gaza City, northern and central Gaza after the 72-hour truce ended at 8:00 am Friday.
At least 11 people were also injured in attacks across Gaza, Qudra wrote on Twitter.
Palestinians fighters from a number of groups, including Islamic Jihad and the Popular Resistance Committees, said they fired over a dozen rockets from the besieged strip.
At least 1,894 Palestinians had been killed in Gaza since the start of Israel's terror campaign against the strip on July 8, the health ministry said.
Another 9,805 have been injured.
