You will find us in every street, among the tents of the displaced, and amid the rubble of destroyed homes, even during the most dangerous times. We are there, carrying water, food, and medicine, providing not just essential supplies but also a lifeline of hope.
These are the words of Wafaa El-Derawi, MECA’s long-time Nutrition Coordinator in Gaza who has been coordinating our emergency response over the past nine months.
We want to share more of Wafaa’s words, along with a summary of MECA’s work in Gaza but, first, a little about the conditions in Gaza. As you may know, families from eastern Khan Younis were forced to flee again, with bombs falling around them. Without money or cars, they are walking in extremely hot weather in search of safety. MECA’s amazing staff and partners brought hot meals from our community kitchens and water bottles to families who are making this brutal journey. We will keep this emergency response going as best we can, but so little aid is getting in right now.
MECA and our partners in Gaza are providing not just essential supplies but also a lifeline of hope.
Please stand with our team in Gaza now by making a donation to support our emergency response.

?Here’s Wafaa’s message from a few days ago:
The situation in the Gaza Strip is deteriorating rapidly. The needs of the people are immense, and the challenges we face grow more overwhelming each day.
Despite the overwhelming odds, our dedicated team remains tirelessly active. Our mission goes beyond basic survival. We strive to strengthen the resilience of our people, preserving their dignity in the face of unimaginable hardship. With every action and word, we convey a powerful message: No matter how dire the circumstances, our commitment to supporting and standing by the people of Gaza remains unshaken.
In June, we succeeded in distributing:
- 280,100 hot meals
- 24,180 ready to eat kits
- 20,000 fresh produce parcels
- 3100 dry food parcels (some in Gaza & north Gaza)
- 335,498 gallons of water
- 500 packages of clothes
We also provided these services throughout the month of June:
- 766 children benefited from nutritional services (screening & follow up) and 519 caregivers benefited from awareness sessions
- 14,400 children participated in psychosocial activities
- 4 water desalination and purification units were installed
- 6,000 families in different 15 informal shelters benefited from garbage removal
Thank you for the actions you’ve taken to stop the genocide and for donating to provide emergency aid.
In solidarity,
All of us at MECA
P.S. Hundreds of thousands of people are being displaced by the Israeli attacks in Gaza. MECA and our partners are responding with food, water, and more. Please make the most generous contribution you can for Gaza now. Many thanks.
