This year, MECA staff and partners distributed nearly 7,000 food parcels to the most vulnerable
families in Palestine and Lebanon with fresh produce from local farmers and other necessities.

Nearly 1,200 kindergarten children in Gaza get fresh, healthy meals every day thanks to the amazing fundraising campaigns of PaliRoots.
Dear Friends,
Thank you for standing in solidarity with people in Palestine and Lebanon through a very difficult year. We are pleased to announce that 615 donors from around the world helped us reach our year-end goal and unlock three matching donations totaling $140,000.
A few weeks ago we sent you 10 uplifting photos of MECA’s work in 2022 and asked you to vote for your favorite. The photos above were tied for the #1 choice. The one on the left shows a farmer in Gaza who sells her produce to MECA for food parcels we distribute to vulnerable families. The other photo is of children at a Gaza kindergarten enjoying a fresh, healthy meal via the PaliRoots Meal Program.
All of us at MECA are so grateful to all those who contributed in 2022. At the same time, we acknowledge that it was a year of escalating Israeli death and destruction that continues into the first few days of the new year.
Just yesterday, fifteen-year-old Adam Ayyad was shot and killed in Dheisheh refugee camp, near Bethlehem. And another child and young man were killed and three others were seriously injured on New Year’s Day when Israeli forces raided a village near Jenin to demolish the homes of two Palestinian families.
Hani Abed, whose home was demolished, says, “They will not break our spirit. On the contrary, this will make people more determined and steadfast.” The same is true for all of us and, we believe, for supporters like you.
We hope that 2023 will bring us closer to justice for children and refugees all over the world.
From all of us at the Middle East Children’s Alliance,
Ali, Deborah, Ghada, Jody, Josina, Mona, Nancy, Patrick, Penny, Samia, Voulette, Waed, Wafaa, Zak, and Zeiad
