In this webinar, Dr. Mazin Qumsiyeh will describe the catastrophic environmental impact of Israeli settler colonialism on the land of Palestine. He will also share how Palestinian civil society organizations are working to research, educate about and conserve Palestine’s natural world, culture and heritage in the face of the Israeli state’s human rights and environmental abuses. The talk will be followed by a Q&A.
Professor Mazin Qumsiyeh is founder and volunteer director of the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) at Bethlehem University (http://palestinenature.org). Qumsiyeh published over 160 scientific papers, over 30 book chapters, and several books on topics ranging from cultural heritage to human rights to biodiversity conservation to cancer. He serves on the board of a number of Palestinian youth and service organizations (see also http://qumsiyeh.org) and oversees many projects related to sustainability of human and natural communities. He is laureate of the Paul K. Feyerabend Foundation award the Takreem award among others.
