I’m writing you today from Gaza with an urgent request for your support and solidarity.
Covid-19 has not hit Gaza yet. But when it does, it will fall on the vulnerable people of Gaza like Israeli bombs.
I’m asking for you to make a special contribution so that we can get supplies in Gaza immediately and get much more from a pharmaceutical company in Egypt.
After fourteen years of siege, Gaza’s hospitals and clinics have a chronic shortage of medicine. The water, sanitation, and electricity systems are in terrible condition. Poverty is so deep and widespread that even the cost of hand soap is a hardship.
We are doing all we can to keep people as safe as possible and get ready to treat the people who may become infected. At the same time, we have to provide care for all the people with serious health problems.
MECA needs to raise $45,000 in the next ten days to purchase and deliver basic hygiene supplies, antibiotics, vitamins, pain medication, and medicine to treat life-threatening diarrhea and provide other routine and emergency medical care for tens of thousands of patients in Gaza.
Gaza has been devastated so many times. Please don’t let it happen again. The strong social solidarity we have here along with your special emergency contribution to MECA now will save lives.
All of us at MECA are thinking about you, your family, and your community during this international health crisis. We are all in this together.
From Gaza with love,
Dr. Mona El-Farra
Director of Gaza Projects
