An Appeal from Rev Daniel Berrigan

I am pleased and delighted and moved to greet you as friends
Of human dignity and decency
As we talk about
A day without water.
A day without water in your family
Or mine.

What that would mean
To the well being of children
And of the aged
And of all of us.

What the deprivation of water would mean
to our dignity
and our decency.

My hope is to be stir you and my own heart.

To say
this should not be.

And to ask
With every thought
Of our common humanity

That we might help water to flow.
