Since 1988, the Middle East Children's Alliance has delivered more than $21 million in aid to Palestinian, Iraqi, Syrian and Lebanese children.
2015: Aid to Palestine & Syrian Refugees in Lebanon
MECA sent a shipment of medical supplies to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society of the Gaza Strip valued at nearly $1 million! With the help of the WHO, the shipment arrived in Gaza in December 2015. These IV bags, surgical lab packs and much more are being distributed to clinics throughout Palestine.
MECA also made a grant to the Union of Health Work Committees to purchase and installation of a new elevator and a lithotripsy laser system for Al-Awda Hospital. The elevator is essential for the treatment of patients, especially in emergency situations, and the laser system will be the first of its kind in the Gaza Strip and will receive referrals from UNRWA and other health facilities in Gaza.
In partnership with community organizations, MECA provided hygiene kits, gas for portable heaters, food coupons to 1830 Syrian refugee families in Lebanon.
2014: Aid to Lebanon
This year MECA provided grants to community organizations across Lebanon to purchase rain boots, blankets, warm clothes, school supplies and shoes for hundreds of children who are Palestinian and Syrian refugees seeking shelter in Lebanon. We also partnered with ANERA to send 3 containers of baby soap and shampoo to be distributed to community organizations and hospitals and clinics working with refugees across Lebanon.
2014: Aid to Palestine
MECA staff and volunteers in Gaza purchased and distributed food packages and hygiene kits to displaced families in Gaza even as bombs were still falling this summer as well as additional food packages in the spring when food aid was cut to hundreds of families in Gaza and this fall when food insecurity increased after Israel's attacks. We also provided grants to long-term partners in Gaza the Red Crescent Society and Union of Health Work Committee to purchase medicine and medical supplies to treat injured and sick patients free of charge and to Afaq Jadeeda Association to provide clean water, hot meals, and psychosocial support to displaced families in the middle camps area.
