Scholarships

In addition to supporting pre-schools, kindergartens, libraries and other educational programs in the West Bank and Gaza, the Middle East Children's Alliance (MECA) provides financial assistance to young Palestinian university students. Our scholarship funds enable talented and ambitious high school graduates to obtain degrees, and the skills to make important contributions to their communities and their country.

In 2009 MECA provided full or partial scholarships for 100 Palestinian students studying at 11 universities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. These young people are Palestine's next generation of teachers, dentists, nurses, engineers, translators, and much more. Their scholarships are provided by two funds established by supporters, the Elly Jaensch Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Tree of Life Scholarship Fund. In addition, MECA’s Ramzy Halaby Education Fund provided scholarships for Keyan Daoud and Ahmed Al-Ghrouz, who graduated from US universities in December 2009.

In 2008 MECA provided partial or full scholarships for 73 university students studying at eleven universities in Gaza and the West Bank through the Elly Jaensch Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Tree of Life Scholarship Fund

As the economic situation in both the West Bank and Gaza Strip deteriorates, MECA hopes to increase our support for university students. Please help us offer more scholarships for the 2010/2011 school year by making a donation.
