Please remember the children of Gaza! Your gift will be doubled.
I wish you the best for a New Year on behalf of thousands of women and children in Gaza. And I thank all the supporters of the Middle East Children's Alliance.
Sometimes in Gaza we pretend life is normal. But the way we live should not be normal for anyone in the world.
Ten years living under the Israeli blockade, two years after the last horrible war on Gaza—on top of decades of dispossession and occupation—what is normal for us is really a very difficult life.
I’m asking you, please, to make a donation to MECA now to help families keep warm during the cold, wet winter, to supply hospitals and clinics with vital medicines, and to help children recover from trauma and grief.
We are still surrounded by bombed out buildings. Family homes are full of holes, letting the cold wind and rain inside. Hospitals are still trying to cope with electricity black-outs, and doctors don’t have enough medicines. Children are still crying from nightmares, memories, loud noises and fear.
But, with your help, children and families are finding ways to survive and live with dignity and joy. I went to a wonderful performance of a music program MECA is supporting and wish you could see the pride on the children’s faces as they sang, and the pleasure they gave their families and community.
Please remember the children of Gaza now. You will make sure our children get psychological support; clean, safe water; medical aid; kindergartens, libraries and playgrounds; and much more. And you’ll be helping children and families throughout Palestine, and refugees from Syria.
Your support and your solidarity reaches us across the blockade and the closed borders. It means so much to us to know that you are standing with us and our children.
With love from Gaza,
Dr. Mona El-Farra
Director of Gaza Projects
Middle East Children's Alliance
P.S. A few weeks ago clinics in Gaza got critical medicines from MECA for their patients. And last week, I went with other MECA staff and volunteers to purchase and distribute warm clothes to 900 children. Thank you so much!
