Vermonters for a Just Peace in Palestine/Israel (www.vtjp.org) is proud to present “A Child’s View From Gaza,” drawings by Palestinian children under siege in the Gaza Strip.  They were collected by Susan Johnson, an American human rights’ activist, during a trip to occupied Palestine.  The drawings graphically capture the horrors of war, military occupation, and Israel’s crippling economic blockade on Gaza’s youth, families and communities.

Nathalie Handal will be reading from her latest collection of poetry, Love and Strange Horses, and her anthology, Language for a New Century, at the FlynnDog, on Saturday, September 11.

Nathalie Handal is an award-winning poet, playwright, and writer. She has lived in Europe, the United States, the Caribbean, Latin America and the Arab world. Her work has appeared in numerous anthologies and magazines, and she has been featured on PBS’s The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer and National Public Radio, as well as in The New York TimesThe San Francisco Chronicle, Reuters, Mail & Guardian, The Jordan Times and Il Piccolo.  Her most recent books include Love and Strange Horses (University of Pittsburgh Press) and the landmark anthology, Language for a New Century: Contemporary Poetry from the Middle East, Asia & Beyond (W.W.
